Dr. Adel Sharkas, Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Trustees and Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, emphasized that the launch of the Academy building and the FinTech Lab reflects a comprehensive national approach aimed at building capacities in financial technology (FinTech) and financial innovation. He noted that these facilities are the first of their kind locally and regionally in this field and constitute a key pillar in supporting digital transformation and innovation in the financial and banking sector.
Dr. Sharkas highlighted that the Academy serves as a specialized national platform, providing a supportive and stimulating environment for innovation in FinTech, developing and enhancing the capabilities of targeted human resources, fostering a culture of innovation, and preparing talents capable of leading financial transformation and innovation, in line with the objectives of the Executive Program of the Economic Modernization Vision.
He explained that the FinTech Lab plays a central role in implementing the Academy’s training programs, as it is an advanced applied training lab offering an interactive environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application. The Lab enables trainees to develop innovative digital financial solutions, instills a culture of innovation, and enhances the readiness of human resources in the areas of FinTech and financial innovation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Riyad Al-Hindawi, Director General of the Institute of Banking Studies, stated that the Academy’s 2026 Training Plan was launched concurrently with the official inauguration of the building and the lab. He noted that the training plan for 2026 focuses on delivering specialized and advanced programs following international best practices and standards, covering areas such as financial technology, artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, blockchain technologies, digital payments, and digital transformation, thereby contributing to the development of qualified human resources that meet the needs of the financial and banking sector.
Dr. Al-Hindawi added that the new Academy building houses the FinTech Lab and smart training rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, providing a fully integrated and stimulating learning and training environment. These facilities were specifically designed to support the implementation of the Academy’s training programs, prepare talents, foster a culture of innovation, and enable trainees to acquire advanced practical skills aligned with current and future labor market requirements.
The announcement of the building inauguration, lab launch, and the 2026 training plan is part of the Institute of Banking Studies’ ongoing efforts to support the development of a competitive digital economy and strengthen Jordan’s position as a regional hub for FinTech and financial innovation.
